As you might have noticed already, this site is quite different from that of the old forum. Here are a few features that you might find interesting.
Save Drafts
What it does: It lets you save posts to be edited or published later.
How to: Click on "Start a Discussion" and within the editor, at top-right, you will see the "Save" icon. Click on it, and the post will be saved as a draft. You can find the saved drafts from the navigation panel. (Three horizontal lines at the top left of your screen on mobile)
Nickname
What it does: Nickname is different from that of your username which you set at the time of registration. Usernames can't be changed, and Nicknames on the other hand can be changed as many times as you want. Nickname, once set, will be your display name in replies, posts, etc.
How to: You can find the "Change Nickname" option under your profile settings.
Report content/user
What it does: You can Report content that you feel violates the 'rules and regulations of the website directly to the moderators.
How to: Click on the 'three horizontal dots' below the post/replies, and click on the report option. Select the appropriate violation, and click on 'Submit a report.'
Quote Replying
What it does: Let's you quote reply to the certain text of the post or a reply.
How to: Highlight the text on your browser(Mobile & PC); you will see a Quote(" Quote) icon pop up on the screen, click on it, and the text that you selected will be quoted directly to the reply box.
Follow Posts
What it does: It lets you follow posts, and turn notifications on.
How to: Click on the 'Follow' button on the post to receive notifications whenever there is a new reply. Click on the downward arrow next to the follow button to 'ignore', or to 'only be notified when mentioned by another user'.
Mentioning other users
What it does: This allows you to tag other users in posts/replies. This sends a notification to the mentioned user.
How to: Type the username with the prefix '@' in any post/reply. (eg @Zin)
Ignore feature
What it does: 'Ignore user' feature hides the set user's posts in discussions and prevent direct messages.
How to: Go to the user's page, click on control(on pc) /or click on the three vertical dots at the top-right side of the page(on Mobile), and click on the 'Ignore User' option. Repeat the same if you want to undo the 'Ignore' option.
Polls
What it does: Allows you to create a poll with a deadline.
How to: Click on 'start a discussion, and select add a poll.
Adding Tweets & YouTube links
What it does: Turns tweet & YouTube URL into embedded content.
How to: Paste the tweet/yt URL in the reply/post.
Installing Mobile "App"
What it does: (Only for users who have Chrome installed) Adds an app (Progressive web app to be exact) to your phone and allows you to receive push notifications. It's basically a native web browser with just this site loading in it, minus the address bar.
How to: When you browse our site, you will see an option at the bottom of the page saying 'Add IBO Discuss to Home Screen'; click on it.
Select install when it asks for permission.
You can customize what notifications you want to receive on your phone via your settings page.
(Note: Kindly click on 'opt-in' in the settings page or whenever it's prompted while browsing to ensure that you get push notifications to your phone notification panel.)
Customize Notifications to receive
What it does: Lets you customize what notifications you receive.
How to: On mobile, click on the three horizontal lines at the top left side of your screen, click on your username, and select settings. You will find the notification settings on that page.
Emojis
What it does: Adds Emojis to your replies, posts, etc.
How-to: We have implemented the regular emojis that we all use in smartphone these days. Just use emojis from your mobile keyboard like you usually do.
Direct Message
It is being worked on.
